I have got a problem with lost data on USB pens. Has anyone come across ways of recovering it?
I plugged a pen into my sister's computer (using a port which she did not know she had and had never used before), the computer did not recognise it. Foolishly I plugged a second pen into the same port - again not recognised. BUT - when I took both pens back to other computers, they could no longer even be seen. Other pens are working fine and I have tried a number of other computers - none of them register the two damaged pens. I am wondering if there was some incorrect voltage at the port on my sister's machine.
I know that there is software around for data recovery - but they all need the computer to recognise the pen - is my data lost forever?

Not according to PC Inspector they don't. Apologies for not responding to this bit before - I have the application on the desktop of my PC!
Try www.pcinspector.de (there is an English drop-down on the front page). The software allows you to recover data from discs where the FAT has been lost for whatever reason and the disc has no name. That sounds like your problem. The good bit about all of this? The software is freeware!
